multiple intelligences

Multiple intelligence means that there are many different ways for a person to be smart. People have all different intelligence's. Gardner says that these are the following areas in which a person can be intelliegent: linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic. Teachers use intelligence's as pathways to teach content. Specifically in a classroom that has different ages, it is crucial for the teachers to teach using multiple intelligence in order for each student to learn best. When using the multiple intelligence, it gives ALL the students entry points to get involved. In the video, the teacher used M.I in teaching a lesson about the growth of a flower by bringing in props, having visual aids, and the students needed to label, dissect and then talk about it. It was a great example of reaching out to all the types of learners. A teacher must plan activities that incorporate  all the intelligence's so...

assignment 1-week 4

I thoroughly enjoyed working on the ELA templates of for both the reading and writing. When i wrote out what my goals for the students are, it made me think how and why I want this to be a goal for them. The way I identified the desired results was by mainly looking at what has to be learned, putting myself in the place of a student and trying to visualize what is most important. The school curriculum will be the guide to what needs to be learned, but it has to be taught by the teacher in a clear and organized way to the class. I want to encourage the students to really think! Think not just to get correct answers but  rather, they should come up with questions that are analytical and takes concepts one step deeper. In reading, they should thoroughly understand the concepts and be able to identify the major characters and themes. When they do think and ask targeted questions, it will encourage them to continue to do so , for they will understand it better and hopefully want to cont...

Backward Design

After watching the 2 videos, here is my basic understanding of what Backward Design is: It is a planing framework. When teaching, the goal is to focus on long term goals and to put that into practice in short term ways in assessing and instruction to the class. In the exact meaning of the words-to DESIGN BACKWARD from the outcomes and goals you want and work from there. Work on strategic thinking. The textbook is just a resource as a support of your goal. Its is not about getting perfect scores, but rather, the learning process and reaching the goals!
